Sihai's Legacy
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android
Sihai's Legacy is (and will be) a game about choice. You will make a decision between five romance-able men and come to learn more about them! As you work alongside them, your relationship will flourish and blossom... or perhaps fizzle out. But beneath the surface, there's even more going on... and it will be up to you to get to the bottom of it. From mysterious strangers to the magical "Paragons," there's more than meets the eye about this world. Tread carefully!
For further-updated versions of the game, check out my Patreon! By becoming a patron, you get access to 3 whole days per route, updating every 1st and 15th on a set update schedule, barring certain complications.
All writing and music is done by myself. All art aside from the title screen and backgrounds is also done by myself! Artist for title screen and backgrounds would like to remain uncredited for the time being.
This game is very much a work in progress. Feel free to leave feedback, and I'll try and reply the best I can!
As said before, versions posted here on itch.io will be 2-3 in-game days behind the patreon versions. They will have a SFW/NSFW toggle, but will not have access to the gallery.

If you encounter the game crashing when you load a save file after updating, try starting from the beginning- there's probably a new variable that you weren't able to activate on your first go around!
*Note from the 4.1.21 art rework: a few new variables were added to the start of the game. I highly recommend making a fresh save- otherwise, it'll definitely break sooner or later.

jus checking in, how's the progress and, more importantly, your wellbeing?
As of about 20 minutes ago, I (tentatively) finished writing Shen's route relaunch! I don't really know what happened, honestly. Guess I just hit my stride and got a lot done in a much shorter time than usual :V at this rate, the relaunch will likely drop in May!
As for my wellbeing, I'm doing alright :') Exhausted, but that's the norm at this point

Not yet! I'm working it as I type this, though. (Currently a few days off of refurbishing Alan's route, finishing up Barry's redesign at the moment before I get pulled away to a funeral for a week :V )

Hello! I read this vn last year and I'm pleased to hear that another update is coming out in the upcoming months! Just wanted to comment on how well you did on this vn and how I like the artwork and world building :) Good luck on the production of this vn and I'm looking forward to seeing what you can create with the characters and world you have built.

I promise it's coming, I've finally got all of the sprite work done! CGs are next alongside some writing updates, mainly at the start but also some stuff sprinkled around later. At the moment I'm detailing my plans for all the routes so I have something concrete to look back on, but that does mean I can't really show off that kind of progress.
It's happening though, I swear! I'll make a post here, on twitter, and anywhere else I can imagine once this relaunch thing is finally done. Then we can finally get back on track!
I really want to get this all done by or in October of this year. Thanks for holding on, but please hold on just a bit longer!

Not quite yet, no. I do really want to get the update out around October, but I wouldn't really expect it to be any sooner than then. I'll make a comment here and a dev log shortly before I post the update, and I'll tweet out the announcement on this game's twitter page here!

Not gonna lie, I wasn't expecting to like this game as much as I do now. I kinda just read it as something light, but then… end of current update! I kinda frowned, rolled eyes (the usual), and followed advise to read through other routes. And it's incredible. Different perspectives are used so well to show player Sihai and world around it from different angles. And route characters! First impression about them was kinda like "oh, so it's just *insert-word-to-describe-a-pattern*", but the more you read, the more you understand all these characters have past and it's not so predictable. And upon my returning on this page I'm seeing a status update! My hopes about this are so high right now, they might as well be in the clouds.

I'm doing well enough, been getting some work done on the next update. I've got some pretty big news about something real important (it's Jorge), but I need to clean things up some before I make that announcement in a more public setting. I'll be posting something to twitter about it within the next few days, though!
Is there a way to get it on with the day right now besides the glory hole scene? I'd love to see more of those two together~
Not between MC and Richard, if that's what you're asking. If I remember correctly, there is some dad content between Jehu and Paul though

Let's see... at the point that the F2P version is, I think the closest you get to You Know What with Alan is the gloryhole scene? I think his route is lacking somewhat in the saucier options for the moment, but I want to make sure each route is nicely saturated with you know what :-)
Why can't we choose our body type anymore? :(
Mostly because it was a massive issue to maintain, same with no longer being able to pick the MC's gender. In the end, I picked the MC that I (and many others, since I took a poll and all) felt best about and updated that to higher standards.

Great game really enjoying it! Is there a route to get with the Polar bear or the green dragon (doctor). Just wanted to see if the options are just Shen, Paul, Jehu, Alan. Or are there other routes depending what you choose?
Thank you! The routes right now are "just" Jehu, Paul, Alan, Shen, and Jorge yeah. Even though that's the case, I still plan on having some fun content for side characters (especially Eiji! He's very fun to write)
Hi I have the 8.2.1 version but the jehu road ends on 19 day, for those who also have the patreon version do you have the same problem as me or am I the only one?

If it ends right after the choice about the door, then I think re-download it. If the problem still persists, I'll look into it some more
(Don't worry) Yes the day starts after the choice but the update ends after the visit of Isxxx and yet I am only on day 19 whereas in the update note it is written 20 th
Oh! I think that might be a small bug I forgot to address where the number doesn't change. It should go from 19th -> 20th at the top right, but unfortunately I kinda goofed something up and it winds up showing the 19th again. The contents of the 20th is the day where Isaac shows up, don't worry!

I did, and still doesn't work
so when your able to pick your body type in the game, was that a test thing to see what people would like or was it something to test what the main character would look like, but if im considering this it was probably just because you haven't decided on what his body type would be that version of the game.
Originally it was just something I wanted to have, letting people pick what body type they felt worked for them. Unfortunately, it wound up being far too much work on top of not feeling right to me as the main character's, well, character progressed. :B I don't know if I'll be bringing it back or not, but chances are that MC'll have a more defined, singular appearance.

its about the art changes well in the 1st update or when the game first came out. why was the art so different it looked a little more...anime?(well the art on the main menu should sum what im talking about, im weird) well im bad with words but it was totally different then what i saw when i played that time. So what happen to that art style, was it commission or someone was your character designer. but now that i think about it the main title screen the art also different that time too. whats with all of that
The art was originally done by my friend Daxhush and much of it was commissioned. However, he couldn't continue being the project's artist due to issues involving costs, investment (both time and money), motivation, and the sheer scope of this project. I think it was a little over a year ago now when I had to take over as the artist for Sihai :B

When I enter the game, it shows 'show basic menu' and the whole game is frozen . I cannot click anything(such as Start,load...). I'm using android version
Very odd :x tapping the "show basic menu" should let you access what you need in order to play the game. Maybe try re-installing if that doesn't work?
Sadly, reinstalling makes me run into the same situation again :(. I cannot tap the 'show basic menu' either

Yep! Every 5 updates, I take a break from the next day that would come in the cycle. The next update will come out January 15th
(I do it this way so I can reduce potential burnout and get the chance to work on things that aren't specific to anyone's route!)

I'm sure it's been asked a ton of times, but how many "Infamous Rest Area Bathroom" scenes are there? I see there are a TON more than the version with the previous art style. Ha. So far I've found ten. Did I get 'em all? :)
There's 11 in total ;) but I'm going to make more sooner or later. My goal is to have one for every character with those bits in the game!
Ahh. I must have missed one. I've basically been doing permutations of different choices and I must have run through like 50 different combinations of choices for stuff. Guess I'll try a tiny bit longer to find the last one! Thanks for the reply.
As a bit of a hint: the 11th character (that you may or may not have seen already) is a little less likely to be there than the rest of the characters. It's not based on what decisions, however, it's randomly generated from the moment you decide to go to the gloryhole!
Ah! That's good to know. I thought there were hidden values based on choices, so I've been cycling through past saves and making slightly different choices each time. Ha. This should make things easier. :) Thanks a lot! And kudos to you for taking on the art yourself. I know it's probably a huge amount of work tacked on to what you were already doing, but the art style is super charming! I look forward to seeing what comes in the future

Why is it that i can't play the game? I opened it and all i see is "show basic menu"? Is it bugged?
There's (apparently) an issue with the android build where the menu won't show up as it should. I'm not sure what causes it, and it seems to not be consistent from person to person. The "show basic menu" thing SHOULD be a crude fix, which should allow you to access a basic version of the menu on mobile devices by tapping it. I hope it works, but I'm not entirely sure if it does. I don't have an android device myself and emulators can be finicky, so... well /shrug
I'll just hope it works! If you haven't tapped on it already, please do. If it doesn't... er, if you can play it on computer, please do :-D

Has the PC's gender choice been turned off? I don't get an option, and it automatically makes the PC a male.
It has, yep. There's a whole host of reasons behind it, but the chief one is that it was simply far too difficult for me to deal with it on top of everything else.
The next update (Shen!) is going to come out today, but I've caught a cold or something and am feeling quite under the weather. I'll post it later in the day, sorry for the wait!

Welp, that's silly. I have day7_Jehu labelled as day7_jehu, even though every single other label (at least, as far as I'm aware) has the name capitalized. I'll re-upload the versions to fix this as soon as they get done compiling!

I'm not sure how embeds work on here (if they do) but I'd recommend reading this tweet. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the next update is going to be late.
That said, if you all are ok with it, I would like to wait until October 1st to post the next update. If you all will allow me until then, I will be updating a handful of sprites and introducing the coveted "dong toggle," which will let you swap, say, dragon dicks to human ones.
